Services

The marine services we run or arrange for vessels in Port Dickson waters.

How the services fit together

NS Maritime's work falls into four areas: port management, jetty operations, marine services and emergency response. For vessels calling at Port Dickson that means seven services. Five are provided by NS Maritime and two, pilotage and towage, are delivered through the Don Maritime Group. NS Port Control, NS Maritime's coordination desk, plans the marine assets and pilots for each arrival and departure, assists the port authority with communication to the vessel and provides information to the terminals.

How a vessel call runs

A typical call runs like this:

  1. Before arrival. NS Port Control plans the pilot, pilot boat, tugs, mooring boats, mooring gangs and land transport around the vessel's arrival.
  2. Arrival and berthing. The pilot is taken out to the vessel by pilot boat and brings her in to her berth with the tugs. Mooring boats and mooring gangs handle the lines and make her fast at the jetty or SBM.
  3. Alongside. Standby boats stay on station while the vessel works at the jetty or SBM. Cargo is loaded and discharged at the jetty.
  4. Standby cover. Oil spill response, fire fighting and rescue cover is on standby for the terminals, anchorages and jetties.
  5. Departure. The mooring gangs and mooring boats cast the vessel off, and the pilot takes her out with the tugs.
  6. Lay up. A vessel going into lay up is brought to one of the two approved lay up points by pilots and tugs from the Don Maritime Group, with a 24/7 watch over the vessel and emergency cover for the whole stay.

Who delivers each service

Delivered through the Don Maritime Group
Pilotage, Towage

Mooring and unmooring, stevedoring and the emergency cover use boats, crews and facilities of the Don Maritime Group. The certifications of Don Maritime Sdn Bhd, which delivers pilotage and towage, are set out on the Pilotage and Towage pages.

For every job a method statement and a risk assessment are prepared, and safety and pollution control measures are kept in place throughout the operation.
